About the role

We are seeking an Equipment Sales Representative to support our Savannah location, focusing on our Environmental product line across the assigned territory. This position is responsible for driving market growth and building strong customer relationships throughout the territory. Key responsibilities include prospecting and qualifying new opportunities, conducting customer visits, delivering equipment presentations and demonstrations, negotiating pricing, and coordinating the sale and delivery of both new and used equipment.

What

you’ll do
  • Market new and used equipment, products and services, demonstrating proficiency in approach, interviewing, demonstrating, negotiating and closing skills.
  • Maintain the best possible profit margin per transaction.
  • Call on potential and existing customers to increase and maintain the customer base.
  • Follow up on leads and phone calls promptly.
  • Hit annual sales projections for the territory.
  • Participate in related customer shows and associations.
  • Listen intently to others.
Customer Satisfaction
  • Interact with contacts in a caring, professional, courteous and timely manner.
  • Provide solutions to enhance customer equipment operations and address customer concerns and problems.
  • Arrange product demonstrations on request and assist in training personnel on equipment use.
  • Respond promptly to resolve customer issues and needs, involving all departments at Vermeer Southeast.
Administration
  • Turn in Call Reports and Customer Hot List weekly.
  • Provide accurate and professional price quotes in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate customer equipment and give accurate trade allowances with assistance of sales manager.
  • Maintain accurate information of customer accounts using the existing database.
  • Accurately complete Warranty Cards, Delivery Agreements, Demonstration Agreements, Rental Agreements, Financial Documents, and other related documentation and provide them within required time frames.
  • Follow proper recording procedures when transporting equipment from the dealership.
  • Follow up on unpaid equipment invoices.
  • Follow proper procedure (Prep Orders) for preparing equipment for sale, rental or demonstration and give adequate notice to the service department for inspection.
Product Knowledge
  • In‑depth knowledge of Vermeer and competitive equipment.
  • Communicate key features and benefits of Vermeer equipment and how they apply to the customer’s individual needs.
  • Competence in operating Vermeer equipment.
  • Clarity in the proper application and limitations of the entire product line.
  • Retain key specifications of the entire product line.
  • Understand and communicate the required daily maintenance of Vermeer products upon delivery.
Territory Management
  • Prepare a strategic daily written action plan.
  • Maintain proper market balance and territory coverage within all counties to maximize market share.
  • Maximize time in territory cultivating relationships with existing customers.
  • Actively seek new business by consistently calling on prospective accounts.
  • Utilize GPS Mapping Program for maximum efficiency and proper territory coverage.
  • Utilize Customer Management Software Program to accurately track customer data.
Qualifications
  • Previous industry experience desired. Minimum of two years sales experience required.
  • High school graduation or GED equivalent. College degree a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to understand, read and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to multi‑task and be detail oriented with demonstrated follow‑through and organizational skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Basic typing and computer skills.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a valid CDL Class A license.
  • Knowledge of industry practices.
  • Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to equipment.
