Job Description:The Shift Technician supports engine and vehicle testing activities by operating automotive test engines and vehicles, monitoring and adjusting control systems, troubleshooting issues, and performing repairs to ensure testing is completed to established specifications. This role is part of a team of mechanics and technicians in a technical, customer-focused laboratory environment.
The position requires availability for all three rotating shifts and alternating work schedules. Shifts rotate every 2–4 months and include changes to both shift and days worked (Monday–Friday or Wednesday–Sunday):
- Morning Shift: 5:00am–1:00pm
- Swing Shift: 1:00pm–9:00pm
- Grave Shift: 9:00pm–5:00am
- Work rotating Morning, Swing, and Grave shifts, alternating every 2–4 months, including alternating days worked (Monday–Friday or Wednesday–Sunday).
- Operate automotive test engines and vehicles according to established specifications.
- Monitor test operations and make necessary adjustments to control systems to maintain specification compliance.
- Diagnose problems and perform repairs to test engines and control systems.
- Maintain adequate fuel supply to all engines and vehicles.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience with automotive engines or mechanical systems
- 1+ years of experience working in a technical environment
- General engine knowledge through recent education or mechanic work experience
- Experience monitoring and adjusting process control systems
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Basic computer skills; experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Formal training in automotive technology, electronics, or automated control systems
- Formal technical training in automotive mechanic/technology (ASE Certified or similar certification)
- Formal training in electronic instrumentation
Pay: $28/hr
Schedule:
Morning Shift 5am-1pm, Swing Shift 1pm-9pm, Grave Shift 9pm-5am (every 2-4 months will alternate shifts)
