Job SummaryThe Education Specialist – Mild/Moderate Support Needs instructs students with Individualized Education Plans in an inclusive environment. This role works directly within a school site and collaborates regularly with Special Education staff, outside consultants, and district personnel as needed.
Essential Functions- Administer academic assessments, write assessment reports, and present at IEP meetings.
- Consult and communicate with faculty and parents regarding student needs and progress via meetings, phone, and email.
- Maintain knowledge of current special education regulations.
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure student modifications and accommodations are implemented appropriately in the general education classroom.
- Assist with master schedule development to plan for all student IEP needs.
- Meet the minimum IDEA case‑management requirements.
- Input weekly IEP service tracking and meet all IEP timelines.
- Maintain a high level of rigor for students with disabilities to ensure equitable access to Common Core standards.
- Develop progress monitoring tools for student goals shared with the IEP team.
- Regularly collaborate with team members and related service providers to review data, ensure IEP and behavior plan implementation, and co‑plan/co‑teach.
- Provide daily oversight of paraprofessional support, including scheduling and IEP implementation.
- Demonstrate effective organization skills to maintain notifications, records, files, and reports as required by federal, state, and SELPA regulations.
- Implement health and mobility supports (toileting, G‑tube feeding, medication administration under nurse supervision) and assist with physical needs (lifting, mobility, campus access).
- Oversee, teach, and implement student behavior intervention plans, gathering and analyzing data regularly, and collaborating with staff on plan and progress.
- Regularly co‑teach/co‑plan with General Education teachers.
