CTE Health Pathway Teacher (0.8 FTE) - Kennedy High - Starting the 2026-2027 School Year

Description

This is a high school teaching position in Medical & Health Careers, which is a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. The Medical & Health Careers program offers a series of prescribed courses for grades 10-12 that provides a strong foundation in the health sciences. Students are provided curriculum that introduces them to careers in the medical field of study: emergency medical services, physical therapy, sports medicine, kinesiology, health systems management.

Students may be eligible to obtain certifications and internships in many of the areas of health occupations.

• Provide rigorous and relevant instruction on pre-approved hands‑on curriculum in the content area and general work-place readiness.
• Support students in industry relevant competitions, industry exploration activities, professional organizations and postsecondary initiatives.
• Show evidence of project-based learning (e.g., competitions, capstone events, etc.)
• Collaborate with core content teachers on common course planning, integration and alignment.
• Collaborate with school-based staff (college and career coach, counselor, etc.) and CTE Partnership Development Liaisons and Program Coordinators to identify and recommend work-ready students.

• Work/Industry
  
  Experience:
  
  experience in a medical field, Emergency Medical Services, Physical Therapy, Sports Medicine, Occupational Therapist, Nursing, etc. PREFERRED:
• Teaching Credential:
  Physical Education, Science, secondary teaching credential and/or California Teacher Education Certificate.
  
  CPR/AED Instructor certification or must be obtained within 12 months from hire date.
• First Aid Instructor certification or must be obtained within 12 months from hire date.
• Bloodborne Pathogen Instructor certification or must be obtained within 12 months from hire date.
