The Voices Academies Education Specialist (SPED) Teacher is an inspiring and motivating educator who works independently under the supervision of the Principal and Student Services Manager. The role is responsible for the success of students in primary academic areas—reading, writing, language, and/or math—through implementing Voices-approved curriculum, documenting progress, modeling skills, providing a safe learning environment, and offering feedback to students, teachers, parents, and administration.

The Specialist designs and implements curriculum, develops school-wide instructional strategies, administers assessments, and manages the IEP caseload to fit the needs of the school's target students. Instruction takes place in core classes, intervention classes, small group, and one-on-one pull‑out settings.

• Provide educational instruction as outlined in the IEP and monitor its implementation.
• Ensure full compliance with legal requirements under IDEA, IDEIA, and California Education Code.
• Use data analysis tools to drive instructional practices, re-teaching strategies, and interventions.
• Respond to student data weekly, quarterly, and yearly based on need.
• Offer accommodations or modifications for learners with disabilities.
• Instruct students to improve success in reading, writing, math, and other basic academic subjects.
• Manage student behavior, develop behavior support plans, and maintain a safe environment.
• Plan learning activities appropriate to student grade level, ability, and cultural background.
• Create a positive atmosphere that inspires academic achievement and enthusiasm for learning.
• Organize classroom systems, procedures, and routines to engage students fully.
• Establish a culture of high expectations and college preparation for all students.
• Develop lesson plans aligned with Voices best practices and guidelines, and provide individualized and small-group instruction.
• Motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for elementary education.
• Challenge and accelerate all students, regardless of entry level.
• Develop and evaluate independent study programs.

• Provide ongoing assessments and diagnoses to identify special learning problems.
• Evaluate students' abilities in basic academics to aid in developing remediation plans.
• Administer standardized achievement tests and interpret results for strengths and needs.
• Draft and finalize IEPs, affirming all data in SEIS.
• Establish procedures for screening, eligibility determination, and research-based instruction.
• Coordinate referral and assessment procedures; facilitate IEP team meetings.

• Work cooperatively with staff and parents to resolve mutual concerns.
• Participate in daily grade-level meetings and professional development.
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators on lessons, units, and programs.
