SUMMARYReporting to the Director of Engineering, the Control Systems Technologist will be responsible for implementing, testing, and troubleshooting PLC/HMI control systems for cyclotron projects. This role includes documentation, factory support, and providing remote/on‑site commissioning and technical support at customer sites, with occasional travel as required.
What You’ll Do- Implement, program, and test PLC/HMI‑based control systems for cyclotron projects
- Troubleshoot, service, and repair control systems (software and electrical)
- Support factory testing, commissioning, and system validation activities
- Provide remote and on‑site technical support to customers during and after installation
- Design, update, and maintain control system documentation (drawings, manuals, test records)
- Coordinate with senior team members on quotations, orders, and production status
- Assist with continuous improvements, upgrades, and support for upcoming projects
- Travel to customer sites for commissioning and troubleshooting as required (up to ~10%)
- Other tasks and projects as assigned by management
- Diploma in Engineering Technology (Electrical, Automation, Controls, or related discipline) with relevant hands‑on experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Having an EIT designation or a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license is considered a strong asset
- Experience with PLC programming and HMI design (Allen‑Bradley / Rockwell preferred)
- Strong ability in troubleshooting electrical control systems and software
- Familiarity with complex electro‑mechanical systems and industrial equipment
- Working knowledge of Ethernet networking and industrial communications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Electrical
- Strong documentation, organization, and multitasking skills
- Good verbal and written communication, including customer‑facing support
- Willingness to travel up to 10% for commissioning and service support
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be able to travel internationally for installation and service trips to customer sites
- Must register as a Nuclear Energy Worker; training provided
- Most work is carried out in ACSI’s office and assembly shop
- Fast‑paced environment with production priorities that shift often to meet current demands
- Salary Range: $70,000 – $95,000 per year
