Role SummaryThe Renewable Energy Systems Technician will support site commissioning, product testing, and support for residential and commercial energy storage installation projects primarily located in Richmond, California. This full‑time role may require occasional travel, with up to 33% travel in certain months and about 10% during the off‑peak season.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Renewable Energy Support Technician, you will:
- Work on electrical engineering systems, prototype assembly, and equipment testing.
- Assist with product research and development (R&D).
- Test batteries and analyze data.
- Perform light warehouse tasks, including shipping, receiving, and handling parts.
- Document activities and generate technical documentation.
- Electrical Engineering skills, including electrical design, prototype assembly, equipment testing, and data analysis.
- Experience in IT networking: troubleshooting network problems and IP address auditing.
- Proficiency with electrical maintenance hand tools and devices.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong interest in technology, renewable energy, and/or energy storage.
- Flexibility to manage a variety of warehouse tasks.
- Knowledge of electrical design codes (UL 508A, NEC, NEMA, NFPA 70E, IEEE, ANSI, NESC).
- Basic CAD development and creation of package drawings for electrical projects.
- Ability to review schematics, specifications, and drawings for accuracy and functionality.
- Working knowledge of Modbus and CAN bus communication systems.
- Hands‑on experience with solar PV, energy storage, power electronics, and/or electrical installations, with a strong understanding of low‑voltage, AC/DC, split‑phase, and three‑phase systems.
- Experience working with Li‑Ion battery packs or similar power electronics systems.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Experience in a research and development (R&D) environment.
- Full‑time onsite position based in Richmond, California, with the option to work 1 day a week from home as projects permit.
- Travel may be required, with up to 33% travel during certain months.
