Group Treasurer – Permanent, Part‑time

Location:

North Richmond office.

Employment Type:

Permanent, part‑time (initially approximately 4 weeks full‑time annually during review and optimisation, reducing to about 1 day per week thereafter).

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer, the Group Treasurer will provide strategic oversight and stewardship of Mercy Health’s treasury, funding and investment activities. The role begins with a period of higher engagement to review treasury strategy, operating settings, policies, investment arrangements and funding model before transitioning to ongoing oversight equivalent to one day per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and challenge external investment managers.
  • Directly manage Mercy Health’s term deposit portfolio, optimizing counter party mix, tenor and returns within approved risk settings.
  • Provide judgement on funding, liquidity and capital allocation decisions.
  • Maintain and refine the Group’s 10‑Year Funding Model, ensuring it remains current, robust and fit for purpose.
  • Work closely with the Divisional Chief Financial Officer Corporate and the Treasury Accounting team.
  • Prepare and present complex treasury and investment matters to Boards, Finance, Audit and Risk Committees.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Senior leader with proven success in a large, complex, evolving environment.
  • Extensive strategic expertise in treasury, investments or fund management within a corporate setting.
  • Strong understanding of cash management, liquidity optimisation, funding structures, capital allocation and performance assessment.
  • Experience governing long‑term financial, funding or liquidity models used to support executive, board and committee decision‑making.
  • Track record in establishing or refining treasury disciplines, frameworks or operating models.
  • Ability to optimise portfolio performance within defined risk settings and oversee external fund managers.
  • Experience managing cash and term deposit portfolios to enable liquidity requirements and optimise returns.
  • Background in complex, regulated environments (preferably not‑for‑profit, healthcare or aged care).
Evidence Required
  • Current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Degree or post‑graduate studies in Corporate Finance, Business Finance, Banking, Funds Management or a related discipline (highly desirable).
