Police Records Specialist

We are seeking qualified, well-organized, and team-oriented candidates to apply for the position of Police Records Specialist.

Police Records Specialist performs a wide variety of general and specialized clerical and technical duties in support of the Richmond Police Department's Records and Special Services Division, and other law enforcement agencies in West Contra Costa County as assigned through specialized computer operations, including initiating, processing, and maintaining documents, correspondence, and statistics; assists in processing prisoners, including the pat or strip search of prisoners and safekeeping of prisoners' property;

provides information and services to the public and other law enforcement agencies; and performs related work as required.

Annual salary for this classification is as high as $81,158.16 at the top of the range with approved cost of living increase of 5% on July 1, 2027. Positions under this class work under general supervision and, within established procedures, are expected to perform a variety of typing, data entry, retrieval and general enforcement support duties. Incumbents have a high volume of contact with the public and other law enforcement agencies both over the telephone and in person. These contacts entail answering a variety of procedural questions and providing information from established Department records.

Police Records Specialists are also required to work shifts, including holidays and weekends. Police Records Specialists may be called upon to assist in booking, searching prisoners, and providing temporary care and oversight of juveniles.

Required

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or GED equivalent, Two (2) years of full-time clerical experience, Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Required Licenses or

Additional Requirements:

Must pass a polygraph and an extensive background examination. As a condition of employment, psychological, medical, and drug testing are also required. COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement:
