Software Developer; Richmond

Overview

New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking a Software Developer to work for our client in Richmond, BC. This role will support and evolve highly secured on-premise and hybrid cloud application platforms, with a strong focus on automation tooling, CI/CD pipelines, setting readiness, and platform reliability for complex enterprise systems and related enterprise applications.

The successful candidate will act as a hands‑on technical bridge between infrastructure, database, security, and application teams, ensuring development and delivery pipelines remain stable, compliant, and future‑ready.

This role requires strong CI/CD automation experience, specialized knowledge of infrastructure configuration management, and experience supporting complex enterprise application environments using tools such as Azure Dev Ops Pipelines, Ansible, IBM Web Sphere, Java, shell scripting, IBM Rational Clear Case, DB2, and/or Oracle.

• Support and evolve highly secured on‑premise and hybrid cloud application platforms.
• Design, maintain, and enhance automation tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes.
• Support environment readiness and platform reliability for complex enterprise systems.
• Work with infrastructure, database, security, and application teams to resolve environment, access, and deployment dependencies.
• Maintain awareness of enterprise security, audit, and compliance requirements when designing or modifying pipelines and platform components.
• Provide hands‑on operational support for complex application environments.
• Provide technical design input and contribute to automation strategy.
• Support enterprise platforms involving IBM Web Sphere, Azure Dev Ops, Windows Server, Oracle JDK/OpenJDK, and controlled enterprise networks.
• Investigate and resolve issues involving schema discrepancies, environment drift, access constraints, and unclear infrastructure ownership.
• Provide clear technical input to managers, project leads, architects, and technical teams to support decisions on scope, sequencing, and risk.
• Coordinate with DBAs, Security Operations, CSE, Architects, and Application Teams to support delivery timelines.
• Maintain and support local infrastructure required for complex application environments.
• Contribute to stable, compliant, and future‑ready development and delivery pipelines.
• Document technical findings, recommendations, risks, and implementation considerations as required.

• 6+ years of experience as a Software Developer.
• Ability to work with highly complex and integrated environments.
• Specialized knowledge of infrastructure configuration management, CI/CD, and tools such as Azure Dev Ops Pipelines and Ansible.
• Experience in deployment and maintenance of local infrastructure to support complex application environments.
• Working knowledge of IBM Web Sphere, IBM Rational Clear Case, and/or DB2 / Oracle.
• Working knowledge of Java, Azure Dev Ops pipelines, shell scripting, and Ansible.
• 6+ years of CI/CD automation experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or STEM, including Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.
• Strong hands‑on experience supporting enterprise application platforms in secure and controlled environments.
• Experience supporting on‑premise and hybrid cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of automation, release management, environment management, and deployment practices.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with infrastructure, database, security, architecture, and application teams.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
• Experience working with Windows Server, Oracle JDK/OpenJDK, and enterprise network constraints is considered an asset.
• Previous experience supporting complex claims, case management, or enterprise workflow applications is considered an asset.
