Buyer I
The Buyer I is responsible to identify and select suppliers, negotiate prices and terms with and establish and manage relationships with designated suppliers, will manage the purchasing cycle and will address supplier quality issues related to supplier product.
This role requires onsite work four days per week at our Point Richmond, CA office.
Schedule:
Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM (4/9 schedule), with Fridays working remote. This role is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship or H1B Transfer. Employment authorization requiring OPT is not supported for this position.
Identify and select suppliers.
Establish and manage relationships with designated suppliers.
Engage in negotiations with vendors on pricing, delivery, service, payment terms, and quality.
Monitor overall supplier risk profiles and changes.
Release and monitor purchase orders to maintain material flow.
Expedite orders when needed.
Collaborate with AP and receiving on supplier invoice management and inventory control processes.
Leverage and update ERP systems for accurate supplier and item information.
Optimize replenishment methods, supplier lead times, and material box sizes.
Identify opportunities for process improvement.
Implement continuous improvement activities internally and with suppliers.
Ensure all supplier-facing legal documents are up to date and compliant.
The Experience, Skills, and Abilities NeededRequired
- Bachelor's Degree in supply chain or related field. Plus 1 year of related experience (could include internships/co-ops or significant project work related to Supply Chain). OR High School Diploma/GED. Plus 9 years of supply chain experience.
Preferred
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing environment.
- Experience in MRP system environment.
Other
- Experience in Microsoft Excel.
