Quality Assurance Supervisor
The Quality Assurance Supervisor oversees the complete quality assurance and control process, from raw materials to the release of finished products, ensuring strict adherence to Food Safety Plans, cGMPs, and company quality standards. This role involves managing audits, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives while upholding the company's core values.
Responsibilities- Monitor and audit manufacturing processes, records, and products for compliance with cGMPs and food safety standards.
- Lead QA programs including calibration, validation, and monitoring activities.
- Investigate customer complaints; conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support internal audits and maintain year-round audit readiness.
- Perform QA testing, both analytical and sensory, as needed.
- Train production and warehouse staff on GMPs, CCPs, and food safety practices.
- Coordinate sample collection and third‑party lab submissions.
- Review test data, Certificates of Analysis, and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Review and release production batch records.
- Maintain document control systems including SOPs, logs, and procedures.
- Conduct inspections of raw materials, work‑in‑progress, and finished goods; manage product disposition.
- Maintain QA retention samples and related records.
- Ensure QA equipment, logs, and office meet regulatory and company standards.
- Track QA supply inventory and support contract manufacturing needs.
- Report deviations and non‑conformances and drive corrective actions.
- Support the FSQA Manager and lead food safety initiatives, overseeing team compliance with cGMP, HACCP, and SQF standards.
- 35+ years of experience in QA/QC or cGMP‑regulated environment such as food, supplements, or medical devices.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- High attention to detail.
Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of cGMPs, HACCP/HARPC, food safety standards, GFSI/SQF.
- Familiarity with laboratory practices and QA systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
- Experience with controlled documentation systems.
- Bilingual Spanish (preferred).
- Degree in science or related field (or equivalent experience).
- HACCP certification and cGMP training required.
- Lean/Continuous Improvement experience (preferred).
The role requires the ability to lift 25 pounds and physically perform job requirements. The work involves sitting 50%, walking 40%, and standing 10%. Mobility is necessary in both plant and warehouse environments. The job entails long periods of standing, twisting, and bending, with exposure to extreme temperatures and loud environments in production and warehouse settings.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $37.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
