Archaeologist RPA/RA – Richmond, CA (Central/ Bay Area). The selected individual will serve as a project manager overseeing all aspects of fieldwork and laboratory analyses, building relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and Native American stakeholders, managing budgets and schedules, directing personnel, and preparing proposals in response to RFPs.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain client, regulatory, and Native American relationships
  • Lead projects, budget planning, and scheduling
  • Direct and conduct archival, background, and technical research
  • Manage field surveys, excavations, and laboratory work
  • Analyze data and prepare reports
  • Respond to short‑ and medium‑duration travel requirements across California
Requirements
  • M.A. or M.S. in Cultural Resources Management, Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field (or completion within 6 months of hire)
  • Minimum 5–7 years experience in California Cultural Resources Management
  • Meet Secretary of the Interior “Professional Qualifications Standards” for archaeology
  • Certified by the Register of Professional Archaeologists or have an application under review
Desirable Candidate Qualifications
  • Previous project‑management experience and authorship of CEQA‑level environmental documents
  • Strong understanding of federal and state cultural resources regulations (CEQA, Section 106, NEPA)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and public‑speaking communication skills
  • Strong organization, teamwork, positive attitude, and solid work ethic
Education
  • Master’s in Anthropology or related field
  • Master’s in Archaeology or related field
  • Master’s in Cultural Studies or related field
