Requirements Must have
- 4--8+ years of experience in backend development or a closely related discipline.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent hands‑on experience; a masters degree is an added advantage.
- Strong experience building and scaling distributed systems and APIs.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Node.js, Python, Go, C#, or Java.
- Experience with SQL and/or No
SQL databases, along with solid data modeling skills. - Familiarity with microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
- Hands‑on experience with AWS and cloud‑based environments.
- Experience working in cross‑functional, agile teams.
- Exposure to containerization tools like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
- Knowledge of observability practices, including monitoring, logging, and tracing.
- Experience scaling marketplace or consumer‑facing products.
- Strong problem‑solving ability and ability to thrive in a fast‑moving startup environment.
- Design, build, and support scalable backend services and APIs for web and mobile applications.
- Architect and oversee cloud infrastructure with a focus on availability, performance, and security.
- Partner with frontend engineers and designers to create smooth, end‑to‑end product experiences.
- Continuously improve system performance, reliability, and cost efficiency through monitoring and optimization.
- Implement Dev Ops best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure‑as‑code workflows.
- Contribute to technical strategy, system architecture decisions, and engineering standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents to maintain platform stability and uptime.

This is a full‑time, permanent opportunity on our founding team, working in a hybrid setup from our Richmond office in British Columbia.
