Head Soccer Coach

Works Closely With: Director of Coaching (DOC), FCA Coordinator

Compensation

• $20-64/hour

West Contra Costa Youth Soccer League (WCCYSL) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving youth across Pinole, Hercules, El Sobrante, Crockett, Rodeo, and parts of Richmond and San Pablo. The club supports soccer at all levels from our in‑house recreational league to our Football Club Alliance (FCA) competitive program with teams competing in Nor Cal Premier League and Elite Academy League (EA).

In five years, WCCYSL has grown from serving 400 players per year to over 1,500 players per year.

• Plan and lead 2-3 practices per week per team
• Coach all applicable games for each team (league, state cup, tournament, etc.)
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the team to player families and club leadership
• Conduct player evaluations and create individual development plans (IDPs)
• Work collaboratively with fellow coaches and club leadership

Head coaches commit to coaching their competitive team for the entirety of the 26/27 season beginning in June 2026 and ending in May 2027. Primary seasons are Fall (Aug-Nov) and Spring (Mar-May). Teams continue to train in Summer (Jun-Jul) and Winter (Dec-Feb) and may participate in additional competitions (futsal, tournaments, Summer/Winter leagues, etc.) at the coach’s discretion.

• US Soccer D License (or equivalent international credential) or higher
• Experience working as a competitive head soccer coach
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
• Willingness to accept feedback and participate in continuing education

• US Soccer C License (or equivalent international credential) or higher
• Experience working within elite national or regional leagues (MLS NEXT, ECNL, EA, ECNL-RL, NPL)
• Experience playing soccer at a high level (elite youth club soccer, college, semi‑professional, professional, etc.)
