Overview
The CSA Logistics Specialist serves our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Program at the North Richmond Farm. This position is responsible for managing a range of weekly logistics tasks, including facilitating the CSA pack, updating CSA delivery routes, maintaining the sanitation and upkeep of our CSA facilities and assets, and overseeing the stocking and supply of materials required for the weekly operation of our CSA Program.
This position will be responsible for following, updating, logging, maintaining records of, and training the CSA Coordinators on our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and successfully obtaining a Food Safety Manager certification. This position will also work with the CSA team to help prepare, pack, pick up, and deliver boxes of locally grown fruits and vegetables to local CSA members and pickup sites in West Contra Costa County.
Delivery driving is a required part of this position. You must maintain a safe and clean driving record, as well as a valid driver’s license. Excellent communication, strong organizing habits, ability to take initiative and self-organize, ability to work collaboratively as a strong member of a team, and attention to detail will be the primary measures of success for this position.
Some weekend outreach and community event work may be a required part of this position.
- Organizing, facilitating, and optimizing the CSA Pack. Take the lead on the packing of CSA boxes by obtaining pack produce quantities from our CSA Procurement Specialist and listing that information on the pack quantity board before each pack day, and ensuring that the quantity information is followed by all staff and volunteers.
- Supervise the safety and sanitization of the pack per County Health Standards. This position will ensure the efficiency, quality, and safety of our CSA pack by obtaining a Food Safety Manager certification and following, updating, logging, maintaining records of, and training the CSA Coordinators on our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintaining updated and efficient delivery routes. This position will work with the CSA collective to monitor, update, and optimize delivery routes in the event of customer vacations or absences. When members go on vacation, this position will be in charge of modifying routes to create a streamlined and efficient route for our drivers.
- Managing, organizing, and facilitating the upkeep and sanitation of CSA facilities and assets, including the CSA dry storage, pack, wash, and cold storage facilities.
- Managing and mentoring the CSA Coordinators (including relaying program-related updates, reviewing and approving timesheets, carrying out disciplinary protocol, and supporting professional development).
- Collaborating with the Operations & Facilities Manager to ensure regular CSA vehicle maintenance.
- Ordering and maintaining an inventory of CSA supplies. This position will maintain an inventory of supplies involved in the packing of boxes, harvesting of produce, and sanitation of our assets. When supplies are low, this position will be responsible for ordering those materials promptly so that we are not short on materials.
- Responding and addressing customer feedback (good and bad), working with the CSA Collective to correct any errors made during packing, delivery, or pickup.
- Packing and delivering CSA produce boxes to CSA members.
- Tracking action plan progress in Asana.
- Act as a thought partner with the CSA Collective and Program Director for program optimization.
- Working with CSA Collective to coordinate box pick-up sites.
- Maintaining consistent and timely communication with your program director and team (48-hour response time or less during work days).
- Coordinating and working with volunteers during CSA volunteer days.
- Supporting CSA outreach as needed.
- Support data collection and reporting as needed.
- Maintaining good standing with the UT accounting team by completing thorough, accurate, and timely expense reports and timesheets, including all breaks and lunch periods.
- Attending monthly Urban Tilth ALL staff meetings.
- Participating in ALL STAFF Urban Tilth projects, programs, and events.
