THE OPPORTUNITY

In this position, you’ll join a highly experienced team of professionals who have been in the tree care industry for more than 45 years, Professional Tree Care Co. (see professional tree care dot com and green waste recycle yard dot com).

Maintenance Mechanic & Driver
, you’ll be the person who performs routine maintenance (such as oil, spark plug, filters, wiper blade changes, etc.) on a wide variety of passenger trucks, commercial trucks, and eventually heavy equipment. You’ll also serve as the primary person who drives throughout the greater Bay Area picking up and dropping off parts for our huge fleet of vehicles and machines; the same trucks, cranes, and heavy equipment used to trim and safely take down enormous trees from Mendocino to Monterey and Sacramento to San Francisco.

Reporting to our Fleet Supervisor and working alongside experienced mechanics on the Fleet team, your first priority will be to serve as parts driver, which will take +/-50% of your time. Once parts runs are completed daily, you’ll be trained and then tasked with performing maintenance with increased responsibilities as you successfully master each type of task and/or vehicle type.

The person who fills this role will have a current California Driver’s License and a clean driving record, meaning no moving violations (tickets), accidents, or points for the past five years. The minimum of seven years on the road is also a requirement of the job. The winning candidate will be someone whose long‑term career goal is to serve as a full‑time mechanic for our company.

    Mechanic‑In‑Training.
  • Short commute. We’re local and prefer to hire folks who live nearby.
  • Tree love. We love our customers and their trees as much as they love us.
WHY YOU’RE SUCH A GREAT FIT FOR THIS ROLE

  • You’re a gearhead! You’re naturally mechanically inclined, love all things related to cars, trucks, and heavy equipment, and you want to earn while you learn.
  • You have one or more years of hands‑on experience, or a combination of high school training or trade school and hands‑on experience. Or, you have worked on your own car or that of your family/friends for several years.
  • You’re authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
