Earlham College is seeking a Career Coach to join our team. The Career Coach position provides holistic, student-centered career coaching and facilitation that helps students explore possibilities, design meaningful next steps, implement plans through action and experience, and realize connections between their Earlham education, their goals, and their future. Grounded in Earlham's Epic Journey, this role supports students as they navigate career development as an active, reflective, and evolving process.
Career Coaches help students build the curiosity, confidence, adaptability, and practical skills needed to make meaningful choices in a changing world. Through individual coaching, group facilitation, course instruction, and career education programming, Career Coaches help students clarify their professional identities, test possibilities through experience, develop job and internship search strategies, create effective application materials, and prepare for interviews, networking, graduate study, and post-graduation success.
Career Coaches also contribute to campus-wide career education initiatives by developing curriculum, supporting Epic Journey programming, and collaborating with faculty and staff to embed career discernment and experiential learning across the student experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
Career Coaching — 40%
- Provide individual and small-group career coaching to students and recent graduates on career exploration, major and career discernment, job and internship search strategies, graduate school planning, networking, interviewing, and professional identity development.
- Support students in developing resumes, CVs, cover letters, personal statements, graduate school materials, Linked In profiles, portfolios, and other application materials.
- Provide coaching and advising support related to Epic Advantage, including helping students clarify goals, prepare for the application process, connect experiences to career discernment, and make use of their funded experience.
- Use career readiness tools and resources to support student exploration, planning, and action.
- Develop and curate student-facing resources that support career exploration, professional development, job and internship searches, and Epic Advantage preparation.
- Maintain accurate appointment schedules, notes, records, and follow-up communication related to student coaching.
- Stay current with labor market trends, graduate and professional school pathways, internship and research opportunities, and emerging practices in career education.
