Job Summary

Indiana University East seeks a student-focused professional to lead outreach and recruitment efforts for military-affiliated students, including veterans, active-duty service members, reservists, and their families. Serving as the university's primary liaison to the military community, this role builds strategic partnerships, provides guidance on educational opportunities and military benefits, and collaborates across campus to support enrollment, retention, and student success.

Department‑Specific Responsibilities
  • Develops and executes recruitment strategies to attract military-affiliated students, including active-duty service members, veterans, and dependents.
  • Builds and sustains partnerships with military installations (including Wright Patterson Air Force Base), veteran organizations, and community stakeholders to expand enrollment pipelines.
  • Represents IU East at recruitment events, military-connected programming, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Contributes to Strategic Enrollment Management Plan (SEMP) goals related to enrollment growth.
  • Provides holistic, student-centered advising to military-affiliated students from inquiry through completion.
  • Guides students on educational benefits (e.g., GI Bill), university processes, and available resources.
  • Engages with students through 1-on-1 meetings, programming, and events; assess student needs and satisfaction to enhance services.
  • Fosters a supportive environment that promotes belonging, retention, and academic success while maintaining confidentiality and a culture of care.
  • Serves as the School Certifying Official (SCO) in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regulations.
  • Processes, certifies, and maintains records for VA education benefits, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitors regulatory updates and ensure institutional compliance with federal and state requirements.
  • Mitigates institutional risk through adherence to compliance standards and audit readiness.
  • Leads the development, implementation, and assessment of programs supporting military and veteran student retention and completion.
  • Oversees operations and utilization of the Veteran Services Lounge as a hub for engagement and support.
  • Ensures services and programming align with Indiana Collegiate Purple Star designation standards.
  • Partners with Enrollment Services units (Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Red Wolf Central, Registrar) and campus stakeholders to deliver a seamless student experience.
  • Supports admissions processing and documentation workflows for military-affiliated students.
  • Contributes to cross-functional initiatives and perform additional duties in support of Enrollment Services operations.
General Responsibilities
  • Maintains, implements and oversees a holistic recruitment yield tactical plan for recruitment.
  • Develops, implements, and administers plans, programs, and events for general and targeted student recruitment in support of organizational goals.
  • Integrates a diverse and strategic communications strategy in collaboration with other departments, geared toward specific student declared academic major, career interests, and geographic factors.
  • Identifies and develops partnerships for outreach to prospective students and influencers.
  • Interprets academic policies and exercises authority and independent judgment.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates programs and processes and determines the effectiveness of markets and strategies.
  • Exercises independent judgment and uses census data and modeling tools to identify effective marketing plans and strategies to address specific populations.
  • Serves in a collaborative role with internal and external stakeholders to identify targets of opportunity to attract and enroll under-represented populations.
  • Participates in the assessment and evaluation of various models.
  • May attend meetings or serve on committees with the admissions stakeholders, including all staff meetings, recruitment, and outreach team meetings, customer service lead meetings, and undergraduate recruitment council meetings; may provide guidance to other admissions counselors.
