About The Opportunity
The Electrical Engineer supports our manufacturing facility in Richmond, IN by designing, developing, and maintaining electrical systems that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. This role provides technical expertise for equipment performance, continuous improvement initiatives, and project execution while collaborating with internal teams and external partners to meet production goals.
Essential Functions- Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize electrical and automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, industrial networks, motors, sensors, and motion control components across corrugating and converting equipment.
- Ensure safe and reliable operation of high‑voltage systems, motor controls, transformers, and plant power distribution.
- Maintain and update electrical schematics, documentation, and preventive maintenance procedures in support of controls design, equipment modifications, and project work including plant one-line drawings and maintaining arc flash requirements.
- Analyze downtime and recurring failures to identify root causes and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Implement automation and control system upgrades to improve safety, uptime, quality, and production performance.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to maintenance teams and operations partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Two to four years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment; packaging, corrugation, converting, or printing industry experience preferred.
- Experience with high‑voltage equipment, power distribution, and electrical safety practices.
- Strong understanding of industrial controls, ladder logic, schematics, and NFPA/OSHA standards.
- Ability to obtain and maintain mobile equipment certifications.
- Strong safety‑focused mindset.
- Ability to flex work schedule based upon the needs of the business.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills including strong documentation and follow‑through.
- Project planning and execution.
- Collaboration with cross‑functional plant teams.
Less than 10% travel required.
Work Environment /Physical Requirements
The role involves both office and industrial environments with exposure to machinery, noise, chemicals, dust, and varying temperatures. PPE is required. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, climb steps, stairs, ladders, and dismount/ mount mobile equipment.
