Senior Loan Quality, Ag Lending

Merchants Bank of Indiana seeks a Senior Loan Quality, Ag Lending professional to ensure the accuracy, compliance, and credit quality of our agricultural loan portfolio. In this role, you will review complex ag credits, validate underwriting and collateral, monitor policy and regulatory adherence, and recommend risk mitigation strategies. You'll partner with relationship managers, credit, and operations to resolve exceptions, enhance processes, and support audits and exams.

Responsibilities

• Review agricultural loan files for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with bank policies and regulations.
• Assess credit quality, underwriting assumptions, and collateral support for new and existing ag credits.
• Identify, document, and track loan exceptions and recommend corrective actions to relationship managers and credit staff.
• Monitor portfolio trends and emerging risks, providing reports and recommendations to management.
• Support internal and external audits, regulatory exams, and loan review activities.
• Collaborate with lending, credit, and operations teams to improve documentation standards and loan quality processes.
• Assist in refining credit policies and procedures specific to agricultural lending.
• Provide subject-matter expertise on ag lending structures, collateral, and borrower financial performance.
• Contribute to training and mentoring of junior staff on loan quality and compliance.
