5430 Rehab-Peds PT OT

Schedule:

Day Shift. 40 hours weekly. Primary focus of this job role is outpatient pediatric support

Monday 9:30 am - 6 pm

Tuesday 9:30 am - 6 pm

Wednesday 8:30 am - 5 pm

Thursday 9:30 am - 6 pm

Friday 8:30 am - 5 pm

This position does include orientation to our inpatient and acute rehab units. Job duties include weekend and holiday rotation coverage on these units.

About The Position

The Rehabilitation Technician performs a variety of duties related to patient care, clerical functions, and miscellaneous tasks to enhance the delivery of care to patients. Preparation of equipment and treatment areas, disinfection, cleaning, ordering, stocking supplies, and general clerical tasks are primary functions. The Rehabilitation Technician will interact with patients and customers of all ages ranging from infants to geriatrics.

Overview Of Responsibilities
  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and transfer tasks as needed and assigned.
  • Transport patients to, from, and within the department, including transferring patients to and from wheelchairs, beds, etc.
  • Assist with patient treatments as directed by therapists or assistants.
  • Assist with specialty programming, specifically robotics, including setup and hands‑on assistance with therapists/assistants.
  • Monitor patients during treatment, assisting as needed, and summon appropriate personnel if signs of patient needs or equipment malfunction are present.
  • Provide physical assistance and attendant care to ARU patients, including toileting, grooming, and bathing as coordinated through therapy/nursing.
  • Observe patients awaiting therapy or transportation, noting extended wait times or signs of illness, and handle situations appropriately.
  • Prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas as directed, including setting up equipment and preparing patients without initiating treatment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning tasks for equipment, including refrigerators, cold pack freezers, hydro collators, etc.
  • Prepare and disinfect Pulsavac equipment in the inpatient hospital.
  • Perform minor equipment repair and maintenance as needed.
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance checks on department equipment as assigned by the Engineering Department.
  • Prepare whirlpools and assist with hydrotherapy treatments, ensuring the whirlpool is prepared and disinfected in outpatient assignments.
  • Maintain treatment tables with clean sheets, pillowcases, and gowns as needed.
  • Launder gait belts and hydrocollator pack covers monthly or as needed.
  • Maintain clinical supply inventory, properly disposing of expired supplies, processing purchase requisitions and packing slips, checking deliveries, and storing/retrieving items.
  • Maintain proper food storage in patient care areas.
  • Remove soiled linen when bags are 2/3 full and notify Linen Services of linen needs.
  • Disinfect mats, toys, and other equipment and facilities between and after patient treatments.
  • Wipe down equipment after each patient use with a hospital‑approved germicide.
  • Ensure cleanliness of all treatment areas and maintain adequate linen stock in assigned areas.
  • Clean items in the department’s soiled utility area and return soiled equipment to Material Processing as needed per department policy.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as copying, making phone calls, or completing documentation as requested by therapists or departmental management.
  • Assist with filing and other clerical tasks as directed.
  • Report abnormal facility findings to the manager/director.
  • Greet, direct, and assist patients and visitors in and to the department.
  • Handle potentially infectious specimens with appropriate biohazard precautions and standard practices.
  • Act only within the tech’s scope of authority to practice.
  • Follow department policies regarding safety, equipment use, and maintenance.
  • Disinfect all equipment between uses to ensure patient safety and infection control.
  • Perform miscellaneous errands or tasks as needed or directed.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with the department’s policies and procedures.
  • Perform tasks related to patient care and assist with department activities as required.

Education & Experience
  • Completion of job‑specific training.
  • Preference may be given to individuals with rehabilitation tech experience.
