Plant Supervisor
- Extrusion Coating

Richmond, IN (Relocation can be provided for the right candidate)
Shift: C Shift Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Every Other Sunday, 7AM to 7PM (Opportunity to move to A shift in the future)
Position Overview:
The Plant Supervisor
- Extrusion Coating will lead and manage daily operations of extrusion coating production lines to achieve safety, quality, and production targets. This role is responsible for supervising production staff, optimizing processes, resolving production and quality issues through root cause analysis, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to maximize throughput and minimize waste while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coach extrusion coating operators and technicians; create a positive, safety-first culture and provide on-the-job training to develop team capability.
- Plan and coordinate daily production schedules to meet customer orders, optimize line utilization, and manage shift transitions.
- Monitor production KPIs (yield, throughput, downtime, scrap) and initiate corrective actions to meet performance targets.
- Lead root cause analysis for equipment, process, and quality failures using structured problem-solving tools; implement and verify corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements; conduct safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering to schedule preventative maintenance, support troubleshooting, and drive reliability improvements.
- Maintain accurate production records, shift logs, and quality documentation; report performance metrics to plant management.
- Manage materials and inventory flow for coating lines, including raw materials and finished goods handling.
- Drive continuous improvement and lean manufacturing projects to reduce cycle times, lower costs, and improve product consistency.
- Coordinate with quality assurance to enforce specifications, support product testing, and handle non-conforming material disposition.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related field, or equivalent manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role; experience in extrusion coating, laminating, or similar web-coating processes strongly preferred.
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills with experience developing and motivating diverse production teams.
- Hands-on experience with extrusion coating processes, process control, and troubleshooting mechanical and process issues.
- Demonstrated proficiency in root cause analysis methods (5 Whys, Fishbone, DMAIC) and implementing corrective actions.
- Solid knowledge of quality systems and standards (ISO, GMP, or equivalent) and experience working with quality assurance teams.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills; ability to prioritize in a fast-paced production environment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations (OSHA or local equivalent) and experience leading safety programs.
- Basic computer skills, experience with MES/ERP systems and Microsoft Office; familiarity with SPC and production reporting tools a plus.
- Certifications such as Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement credentials are desirable.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends as required by production demands.
