The Digital Press Operator is a full-time, on-site day shift role based in Richmond, IN. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring digital printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials according to job specifications. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing work orders, performing basic pre-press checks, loading materials, calibrating machines, and conducting visual and technical inspections to ensure color accuracy and print quality.
The Digital Press Operator will troubleshoot minor equipment issues, perform routine maintenance, and collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines and uphold safety standards. This role also involves maintaining accurate records of production runs and communicating any quality or scheduling concerns to supervisors.
- No prior printing experience required — we are willing to train the right person.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to follow a consistent work schedule.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to notice small differences in color, alignment, text, image quality, and finishing.
- Basic computer skills required, including comfort opening files, using folders, printing from a PC, and learning production software.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Willingness to learn digital printing equipment, print production workflow, paper handling, job setup, and quality control procedures.
- Good problem-solving skills and willingness to ask questions when something does not look correct.
- Ability to work independently once trained, while also communicating well with the production team.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and performing hands‑on production work.
- Ability to lift, load, move, and stack paper or printed materials as needed.
- Must be organized and able to keep jobs, materials, and work areas clean and orderly.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to help in other areas of production when needed.
- Prior experience in printing, production, manufacturing, bindery, design, prepress, or equipment operation is helpful but not required.
