Applicants MUST have a Kentucky teaching certificate in English/Language Arts grades 5-9. A college or university letter of acceptance for an alternative route to certification for English/Language Arts grades 5-9 will also be accepted. New or soon-to-be college graduates who do not have one of the documents above are required to submit a letter of explanation detailing the certification area, graduation date, university name, and status with regard to obtaining teacher certification.
RepresentativeDuties
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the designated locations and times.
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
- Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon supervisor request.
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, projects, and communicating them to students.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media appropriate to the physical learning environment and to the needs and capabilities of students or groups.
- Implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals through instruction and action.
- Assess students’ accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and regulation.
- Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develop classroom rules and maintain order fairly.
- Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional hours under reasonable terms.
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for instructional aides and volunteers, evaluating performance cooperatively with department heads.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.

Education and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in the field of assignment (minimum requirement).
Licenses and Other RequirementsValid Kentucky Teaching Certification for the area and grade level of assignment.
