Agape Christian Academy is seeking a Christ-centered, relational, and highly organized Guidance Counselor to support the academic, spiritual, social, and emotional development of middle and high school students. This role exists to help students understand their identity in Christ, navigate challenges with biblical wisdom, and pursue God-honoring pathways in academics, relationships, and future planning.
The ideal candidate will provide biblical counseling, intentional discipleship, academic guidance, and administrative leadership in student support systems, while also overseeing the school’s testing programs and contributing to broader campus operations.
This includes comprehensive college, career, and vocational counseling to equip students for life after graduation.
- Provide individual and small-group counseling addressing academic, social, emotional, and spiritual needs
- Offer biblical counseling grounded in Scripture, prayer, and gospel-centered wisdom
- Support students in developing Christlike character, conflict resolution skills, and healthy decision-making
- Maintain confidential, accurate records of counseling interactions in alignment with school policies
- Collaborate with teachers to identify student needs and implement intervention strategies
- Guide students in exploring God-given strengths, interests, and vocational giftings as part of their development
- Assist students in course selection, academic goal-setting, and long-term planning
- Monitor student progress toward graduation requirements
- Coordinate academic support plans, including accommodations and intervention strategies
- Provide guidance for students transitioning between grade levels or academic tracks
- Advise students and families on postsecondary pathways including four-year colleges, community colleges, trade schools, apprenticeships, military service, ministry opportunities, and gap-year programs
- Support students through the college admissions process, including application planning, essay guidance, recommendation coordination, and interview preparation
- Provide structured career exploration through assessments, interest inventories, job-shadowing connections, and mentorship opportunities
- Assist families with financial aid processes, including FAFSA, scholarships, grants, and stewardship-minded financial planning
- Guide students participating in Ohio’s College Credit Plus (CCP) program, including eligibility, course selection, and credit transfer considerations
- Oversee and administer admissions testing for incoming students
- Coordinate diagnostic testing for academic placement or intervention
- Manage all aspects of standardized testing, including scheduling, communication, proctor training, materials management, and reporting
- Analyze assessment data to support instructional planning and student support
- Maintain compliance with testing protocols and school policies
- Provide students with preparation resources for college entrance exams (ACT/SAT/CLT) and coordinate on-campus testing opportunities when applicable
Biblical Counseling & Spiritual Care
- Provide biblical counseling to students facing academic pressure, relational conflict, anxiety, identity questions, or spiritual struggles
- Use Scripture, prayer, and Christ-centered encouragement to guide students toward repentance, restoration, and growth
- Support students in understanding their identity, purpose, and relationships through a biblical worldview
- Partner with parents and pastors when deeper pastoral care or outside counseling is appropriate
- Lead students in regular devotions, prayer, and spiritual conversations
- Mentor students in spiritual disciplines, discernment, and Christian maturity
- Encourage students to apply biblical truth to cultural issues, relationships, and personal decisions
- Support chapel programming, small groups, and other spiritual formation initiatives
