Overview

The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at William Paterson University invites applications for an Adjunct Professor within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Adjunct faculty teach courses such as Essentials of Criminal Justice, Policing, Criminal Investigation, Sociological Theory, Research Methods, and Data Analysis, primarily in an undergraduate setting, with up to six (6) credits per semester.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop syllabi and instructional materials using the course outline, including objectives and assessment methods for up to six credits per semester.
  • Provide consistent and effective support and guidance to students through role modeling and mentoring.
Required Qualifications
  • Earned Master’s or PhD in Sociology, Criminology, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One or more years of teaching experience at the higher education level.

Salary and Benefits

Adjunct pay rates:
New employees – $2,100 per credit;
Employees with 13+ semesters at WP – $2,175 per credit.

Eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and retirement plans.
