Overview
The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at William Paterson University invites applications for an Adjunct Professor within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Adjunct faculty teach courses such as Essentials of Criminal Justice, Policing, Criminal Investigation, Sociological Theory, Research Methods, and Data Analysis, primarily in an undergraduate setting, with up to six (6) credits per semester.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develop syllabi and instructional materials using the course outline, including objectives and assessment methods for up to six credits per semester.
- Provide consistent and effective support and guidance to students through role modeling and mentoring.
- Earned Master’s or PhD in Sociology, Criminology, or a related field.
- One or more years of teaching experience at the higher education level.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching and content delivery.
- Patient and resourceful in managing student challenges.
- Capability to develop and maintain sustainable relationships in a diverse environment.
- Dedicated to excellence and positive outcomes.
- Collaborative and goal‑oriented in a team setting.
Adjunct pay rates:
New employees – $2,100 per credit;
Employees with 13+ semesters at WP – $2,175 per credit.
