Job Summary

Chance Light Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education, a growing, dynamic organization, is seeking an Instructional Aide 1:1 to join our award‑winning Special Education team. The role involves direct, individualized support for students in Grades K–2, working closely with classroom teachers to implement IEPs, tailor instruction, and foster student growth.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a supportive, welcoming learning environment where all students feel safe and valued.
  • Implement engaging, individualized instruction and behavioral interventions on‑site and in community settings, aligned with each student’s goals and objectives.
  • Instruct and closely monitor students during classroom lessons, ensuring instructional fidelity and applying targeted strategies to enhance comprehension and course completion.
  • Track progress against timelines and proactively communicate with classroom teachers regarding student successes and needed interventions.
  • Manage student behavior effectively, reinforcing school philosophy and policies, and applying consistent disciplinary measures in collaboration with teachers.
  • Support and mentor students facing academic challenges, encouraging personal growth and development of community, vocational, leisure, domestic, academic, and social skills.
  • Complete clear, accurate, and timely documentation of student behaviors and performance, reporting observations and offering actionable recommendations to staff.
  • Assist with preparation of behavioral reports, daily activity logs, and other necessary documentation.
  • Communicate proactively and clearly with students, colleagues, supervisors, and families regarding needs, achievements, and concerns, working in partnership with teachers and administration.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all student records and information.
  • Participate actively in assurance and accreditation activities, contributing to site performance standards and requirements.
  • Engage in school‑wide, student‑parent, and advisory meetings to foster collaborative support networks and positive outcomes.
  • Respond positively and constructively to formal and informal feedback, demonstrating continuous professional growth.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support student success and overall community effectiveness.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent with passage of a basic skills test.
  • Associate degree or higher in education or a closely related field preferred.
  • Licensed or in the process of obtaining a paraprofessional, para educator, education assistant, or similar credential preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company‑approved crisis management training.
  • Prior experience working with children, preferably in alternative, special education and/or behavioral health settings.
  • Experience with individuals who have severe learning disabilities, behavioral disorders, and/or emotional disturbance.
  • Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in emergencies, making independent decisions.
  • Proficiency in motivating students and engaging in critical conversations to advance realistic goals.
  • Willingness to be flexible, adapt to changing priorities, and embrace new initiatives.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology, including instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
