1A Grade 6/7/8 (attached). Working Calendar: 187 Days, 7 hours per day.
Jefferson County Public Schools serves over eight thousand students with English as a second language, drawn from diverse cultural backgrounds worldwide. The ESL program provides interpretation and translation services to ensure effective communication between the district and limited‑English‑speaking families.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIESThis position assists in coordinating, creating, and implementing supports for Multilingual Learners (MLs) and their families. Responsibilities include coordinating resources and partnerships with community stakeholders and providing direct service to MLs and their families.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:INSTRUCTOR I BILINGUAL ASSOCIATE
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Passing score on the Kentucky Para‑educator Assessment or 48 credit hours of college coursework.
- Demonstrated proficiency in two (2) languages:
English and the appropriate language. - Experience working with children and parents who have special needs, and who come from multi‑cultural and multi‑ethnic backgrounds.
- Knowledge of or willingness to familiarize oneself with U.S. educational system philosophy, policy, and methodology.
INSTRUCTOR II BILINGUAL ASSOCIATE
- Associate Degree or approved equivalent training (64 semester hours) and experience.
- One year of successful experience in a related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency in two (2) languages:
English and the appropriate language. - Experience working with children and parents who have special needs, and with multi‑cultural and multi‑ethnic backgrounds.
- Knowledge of or willingness to familiarize oneself with U.S. educational system philosophy, policy, and methodology.
INSTRUCTOR III BILINGUAL ASSOCIATE
- Three (3) years of successful teaching experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in two (2) languages:
English and the appropriate language. - Experience working with children and parents who have special needs, and with multi‑cultural and multi‑ethnic backgrounds.
- Knowledge of or willingness to familiarize oneself with U.S. educational system philosophy, policy, and methodology.
