SUMMARY

Teaches a full range of skills and knowledge for the certificate program in medical coding. Prepares students topass the CPC examination.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Presentsfacilitative, well prepared, organized, and clear lectures and classroom activities consistent with the course syllabus (AAPC curriculum, medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, advanced medical coding, HCPCScoding, ICD-10 coding) and school policies
  • Continually promotes students’ development and effective use of skills in areas such as critical and analytical thinking,evaluation, communication, professionalism, customer service, computation,problem solving, and decision-making

  • Ability to instruct through remote and in-persondelivery (Blackboard, virtual classroom, and/or online using a Learning Management System)
  • Provides the student with timely information and feedback on his/her academic progress relative to quizzes, tests, homeworkand projects
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date records of student academic and attendance performance
  • Possesses a thorough knowledge and understanding of all College policies, and actively participate in their implementation and enforcement
  • Follows all retention policies of the College to ensurestudents are in attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • Must be a Certified Professional Coder Instructor(CPC-I) with the AAPC
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Coding Specialist in the field
  • Minimum of three years of teaching or related field experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing key metrics
KNOWLEDGE,

SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Ability to assess and grade the progress of students
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population

However, theremay be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such aspapers, files, pamphlets, books, etc;;
  • Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite

Set-Rate Non-Bargaining Part-Time Position: This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $30.30/hour.

If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment with the College, as outlined in 3354:1-40-01.1 Recruitment and Selection Procedure .
