Opportunity

We are seeking a versatile Environmental Technician to join our team, focusing on environmental monitoring and the execution of field-based compliance activities across our oil and gas operations. In this role, you will provide critical technical support for incident response, remediation efforts, and site-level inspections to ensure strict adherence to all environmental regulations. By serving as a grounded technical resource for our operations teams, you will play a vital part in promoting environmentally responsible practices and maintaining our organizational commitment to operational compliance.

Location

This is a primarily field-based role operating from our Quaker City, OH operations. The position requires extensive regional travel to our operating sites, along with additional travel to our headquarters in Morgantown as needed.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Environmental Monitoring: Lead and oversee advanced inspections across production, pipeline, and facility sites to ensure consistent operational integrity.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Support adherence to air, water, waste, and spill prevention regulations, ensuring all activities meet specific state and federal permit conditions.
  • Sampling & Data Collection: Perform technical environmental sampling and data collection, maintaining rigorous documentation that meets both regulatory and company standards.
  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify environmental risks or non-compliance issues and recommend effective corrective actions to mitigate potential impacts.
  • Incident Response: Support spill response, remediation activities, and environmental incident investigations as required.
  • Field Coordination: Manage field-based activities related to permitting, site inspections, and the execution of corrective action plans.
  • Technical Auditing: Review environmental records and reports for accuracy and assist in the preparation for regulatory audits and agency interactions.
  • Operational Resource: Serve as the field-level technical resource for environmental best practices, providing guidance to operations and engineering teams.
  • Program Implementation: Support the rollout of environmental initiatives and programs aimed at improving overall compliance and operational performance.
  • Process Improvement: Maintain meticulous compliance records while identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance reporting efficiency.

Your Background
  • 5+ years of environmental compliance or environmental field experience, specifically within the oil and gas industry or similar heavy industrial environments.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; formal technical training or environmental coursework is highly preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of environmental regulations applicable to oil and gas operations, with the ability to accurately interpret permits and guidance documents.
  • A strong understanding of environmental monitoring, sampling techniques, and industry-standard compliance practices.
  • Proven ability to identify, assess, and mitigate environmental risks and compliance gaps in a field setting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail in maintaining environmental logs, data collection, and regulatory reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in remote field environments, making sound technical decisions under both routine and high-pressure conditions.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate successfully with field personnel and internal cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and adapt to changing operational needs during routine tasks or incident response.
Working Conditions
  • Must be willing and able to consistently work (70-80% of time) in varying weather conditions and rough field terrain.
Physical Requirements
  • See, hear, talk and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity; kneel, sit, stand, walk, crouch, stoop, reach, pull, push and other similar, repetitive tasks requiring physical activity.
  • Able to operate standard office/computer equipment.
  • Must be able to perform physical work – exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
