Overview
NXT Recruitment is working in partnership with a well‑established and growing business to recruit a Finance Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy finance team within a company operating across multiple sectors, supporting the day‑to‑day financial operations of the business while contributing to wider commercial objectives.
Working closely with the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting processes, and ensuring the efficient operation of the finance function.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Finance Manager with the preparation of monthly management accounts and provide ad‑hoc financial analysis as required
- Conduct credit checks for new and existing customers
- Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and efficiently
- Manage outstanding debtor accounts and provide regular reporting on aged debt
- Support cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and forecasting activities
- Prepare reports, summaries, and spreadsheets for the Finance Manager and Directors
- Support audits and assist in ensuring compliance with internal financial procedures
- Respond to finance‑related enquiries from internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Assist with general finance administration and continuous improvement initiatives within the department
- Previous experience within a finance or accounts role
- Experience preparing or assisting with management accounts
- Strong understanding of finance processes and financial administration
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to liaise professionally with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and financial software packages
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A proactive and professional approach to work
- Experience supporting budgets, forecasts, and cash flow management
- AAT qualification or equivalent finance qualification
- Experience working within a commercial or multi‑site business environment
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
