Overview

NXT Recruitment is working in partnership with a well‑established and growing business to recruit a Finance Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy finance team within a company operating across multiple sectors, supporting the day‑to‑day financial operations of the business while contributing to wider commercial objectives.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting processes, and ensuring the efficient operation of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Finance Manager with the preparation of monthly management accounts and provide ad‑hoc financial analysis as required
  • Conduct credit checks for new and existing customers
  • Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Manage outstanding debtor accounts and provide regular reporting on aged debt
  • Support cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and forecasting activities
  • Prepare reports, summaries, and spreadsheets for the Finance Manager and Directors
  • Support audits and assist in ensuring compliance with internal financial procedures
  • Respond to finance‑related enquiries from internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
  • Assist with general finance administration and continuous improvement initiatives within the department
Requirements
  • Previous experience within a finance or accounts role
  • Experience preparing or assisting with management accounts
  • Strong understanding of finance processes and financial administration
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to liaise professionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and financial software packages
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A proactive and professional approach to work
Desirable Skills
  • Experience supporting budgets, forecasts, and cash flow management
  • AAT qualification or equivalent finance qualification
  • Experience working within a commercial or multi‑site business environment
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
