- Lead and manage the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with local and international accounting standards.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate financial risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making processes.
- Manage the annual budgeting process, including forecasting and variance analysis, to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Supervise the accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices and collections.
- Conduct regular audits of financial processes and controls to ensure accuracy and compliance, addressing any discrepancies as needed.
- Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within the team.
- Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and stakeholders, providing insights into financial performance and trends.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices, implementing necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
- Support the implementation of accounting software and tools to streamline processes and improve reporting capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or CPA certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of local and international accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
- Proven experience in budget management, financial analysis, and strategic planning.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
- Experience in the maritime or logistics industry is a plus.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and financial management software.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly in Greek and English, are advantageous.
- Previous experience with international financial operations or cross-border transactions.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, SAP, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills for financial modeling and analysis.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- This position is based in Athens, Attiki, and may require occasional travel for audits or training purposes.
- The successful candidate will be expected to work full-time, with flexible hours to accommodate project deadlines.
