Position Overview:

As a Regional Director in J.P. Morgan’s Closely Held Asset Management (“CHAM”) team, you will play a pivotal role in strategically growing and managing closely held business assets owned in trusts and estate accounts of Private Banking clients. Reporting to the CHAM Practice Lead, you will lead a team of professionals, oversee the management of closely held assets, and ensure the delivery of exceptional service to our clients.

Your role will involve strategic planning, business development, asset due diligence, and collaboration with senior management to drive initiatives to completion. You will manage a team responsible for asset review reporting activities to assess and manage risk, support account acceptance and holding recommendations, and ensure compliance with banking regulations and fiduciary standards.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Business Development:Help drive business development initiatives in collaboration with Trust Officers, Bankers, Wealth Advisors, and external legal and tax advisors to grow revenue and assets under management for the Trusts & Estates practice. Conduct due diligence on closely held business interests to support the new business acceptance process.
  • Fiduciary Management:Oversee the management of closely held assets where J.P. Morgan serves as a corporate fiduciary, ensuring compliance with banking regulations, policies, and J.P. Morgan standards. Implement effective risk management and mitigation for assigned assets and accounts.
  • Asset Management:Oversee completion of regulatory and due diligence reviews of closely held assets, including business reviews, management interviews, analysis of financial and operating performance, and determining marketability and account holding recommendations. Review corporate governance and financial reporting. Evaluate key actions, including attending shareholder meetings, approving changes in key governing documents, and evaluating purchase and sale transactions.
  • Strategic Leadership:Provide leadership and guidance to CHAM Asset Managers and internal partners, ensuring alignment with the broader goals of the Global Trusts & Estates Practice. Provide training/education and help develop marketing materials to support business priorities.
  • Team Management:Lead and mentor a team of Asset Managers, providing guidance and support to ensure successful execution of their responsibilities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:Serve as a liaison with internal Compliance, Legal, and Risk partners to address complex client issues and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Process Improvement:Continuously evaluate business processes to identify and implement efficiencies.
  • Communication:Prepare and present complex analyses and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders, including clients, trust beneficiaries, professional advisors, executive management, and internal committees.
Qualifications, Capabilities, and

Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degrees and professional credentials (e.g., CTFA, JD, CFA, MBA, CPA, ASA, AM, etc) are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in trusts & estates, business valuation, investment management, private business advisory, legal, and/or accounting.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team of financial and other asset management professionals.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in conducting in-depth analyses and utilizing problem-solving skills to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary (less than 15%).
