As an Actuarial Consultant you will work with a team of industry professionals on regulatory consulting and other insurance industry engagements. This position has opportunity for advancement as well as personal and professional growth.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities (Responsibilities may vary slightly depending on seniority level)Serve as health actuarial consultant on client engagements including; potential work on financial exams, rate filing reviews, special studies and research projects, adhere to project budget and timelines.
Requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or Statistics; MBA and/or professional certification/s preferred
- Minimum of 5+ years professional experience in a state insurance department, health insurance company, financial services or consulting firm
- Prior consulting and/or regulatory experience is preferred
- ASA, FSA, MAAA designations strongly preferred
- Experience with Affordable Care Act (ACA) preferred, and ACA pricing is strongly preferred
- Experience with Medicare Supplement products is preferred
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex information, identify inconsistencies, and produce accurate, high-quality work products.
- Knowledge of actuarial concepts including: health rating, underwriting, financial modeling and analysis, risk management, pricing, and reinsurance.
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and a proactive desire to learn, adapt, and develop expertise in new actuarial, regulatory, and industry topics.
- PC skills, including experience in using software for producing presentations, spreadsheets, and project planning (skills in Visual Basic, MS Excel, R programming/R-Studio, Python and other applications are a plus)
- Ability to communicate complex actuarial concepts clearly, concisely, and accurately to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects and assignments
- Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to prepare detailed, organized, and well-supported analyses, reports, and client deliverables.
- Must be self-motivated and possess a sense of urgency with a Natural curiosity and eagerness to continuously learn, ask thoughtful questions, and expand knowledge of the health insurance and regulatory environment.
