The Plain City Division of Police is accepting applications for a Full-Time Police Officer Position.
Hiring Status:
Currently hiring for two (2) positions to be filled immediately AND building an eligibility list for additional NEW positions to be hired in the future.
DEADLINES for all testing, application, and pre-employment background packets to be RECEIVED by our office is:

. Applications will be reviewed immediately upon receipt and initial interviews may be scheduled and conducted during the application period. Panel interviews for the first ten most qualified and most desirable applicants will be in early September, with full backgrounds being conducted concurrently. These applications will be fast-tracked! - Cadet Program Applicants:
August 9, 2026 by 11:59 PM. Applications will be reviewed once Lateral Entry Applicant interviews are completed. An eligibility list will be created for the start of the next academy, which is expected to begin in the December 2026. - Anything received after these dates and times will be retained for consideration during any subsequent hiring process initiated within one year of submission.

Department Overview:The Plain City Division of Police has established a very positive relationship with our citizens and community partners. We are looking for officers who have a strong sense of community and embody our mission statement. We moved into a newly constructed and modern police facility in 2020. We embrace technology and have up-to-date equipment that is all on a regular replacement schedule.
We have active membership with the regional SRT team and regional Drug Task Force as well as other specialized groups. We have bicycle patrol, a drone unit, a K9 unit, and are actively involved with our community outreach programs and school outreach programs. Our officers wear progressive uniforms including outer vest carriers and are permitted to have facial hair and visible tattoos.
Career Growth and Development:The division of police firmly believes in training and maximizing each officer's potential by encouraging them to attend training annually that is of particular interest to the officer and is of benefit to our agency. Training opportunities typically exceed state mandated training requirements. We also have several impending retirements that will allow for rapid advancement opportunities and this combined with the rapid growth of the community will allow new officers to gain seniority quickly.
