Job Description:Projects a positive and helpful demeanor while working with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
Maintains a courteous and professional manner when answering calls.
Demonstrates skill and proficiency when executing overhead announcements
Updates and maintains all on call lists for staff when notified of changes.
Forwards calls promptly to proper departments, patient rooms, or staff as necessary.
Demonstrates communication skills appropriate for interactions with adolescent, adult, and geriatric callers, using service standards and service recovery techniques.
Contacts key personnel after hours as needed.
Maintains an operational call log of all activities, requests, and issues.
Cultivates accurate knowledge of hospital disaster codes and announces them efficiently according to procedure.
Provides excellent customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all stakeholders.
Other duties as assigned.
Ability to read, speak, listen, receive, understand, and disseminate communications effectively Required
Competent knowledge in standard computer applications with an ability to type 30 wpm Required
Capable of learning and retaining a vast amount of information including clinical terminology Required
Adept in multi-tasking in a high volume and fast paced environment Required
Ability to work independently and to apply logical and safe decision making in communicating critical situations Required
Embraces learning and adapting to frequent changes to data used to direct and manage calls Required
Maintains calm and courteous composure when dealing with emergencies or dissatisfied callers Required
Strong independent worker, critical thinking, and good judgement qualities Required
Excellent oral and written communication skills Required
Proficiency in MS Office products Preferred
Bilingual skills Preferred
High School Grad or Equiv Required
1+ related work experience as a switchboard operator or in customer service field Required
