Required License/Registration/Certification: Nationally certified Pharmacy Technician by either PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT);
Registered with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire.

Physical Requirements: May include standing for greater than 5 hours at a time and possibly walking several miles per day. May require the ability to reach items above shoulder level, or below and be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Shift: Primarily day shifts but may include hours between 7am-9pm weekdays and 7:30am-6pm week-ends to accommodate varying training needs. Shift, days of week, and location subject to change based on the needs and growth of the department.

Job Summary

UK Health Care is seeking compassionate, detail-oriented individuals who want to join our growing retail pharmacy team servicing UK Health Care patients, students, faculty, staff, and community members. UK Retail Pharmacy Services is committed to providing outstanding patient care to those who choose UK Health Care. As a Pharmacy Senior Technician II, you will be front and center –interacting with our customers and developing strong patient relationships.

You will use your skills and compassion in caring for our patients as an integral part of the healthcare team. The Pharmacy Senior Technician II/Trainer provides training and technical support for the ambulatory pharmacy services locations and is essential to providing the necessary onboarding training of pharmacists and technicians. The selected candidate also performs basic pharmacy technician duties of filling, billing, and dispensing which includes processing prescription refills, renewals, and new prescriptions at patient facing or patient support phone stations as allowed by KY Board of Pharmacy law.

The Pharmacy Technician position requires the candidate to register with the KY Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire or on the first day on the job if previous registration has lapsed.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

This position requires dependability, and the ability to prioritize. The successful candidate must be reliable and demonstrate excellent attention to detail.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Preferred Education/Experience

Associate or bachelor’s degree and hospital and/or retail pharmacy technician experience preferred.
