Position: Debris Monitor (Madison County, KY)

Tetra Tech is currently hiring Debris Monitors in Madison County, KY. The role involves comprehensive monitoring and documentation of debris removal activities across various sites, including collection, disposal locations, waterways, and rights-of-way.

This is not a commission-based role. You will be paid every week. No physical labor is required.

Position Summary:

The position is for immediate work; training will be provided. We seek self‑motivated, responsible, dedicated individuals who can prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Oversee loading activities of trucks, bobcats, front-end loaders, and other vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and federal regulations.
  • Accurately record truck load information, vehicle types, and debris classifications using handheld electronic devices and paper logs.
  • Monitor trucks driving through the city, documenting weight points, and confirming that contractors collect only eligible storm‑related debris from public areas without accessing private property.
  • Interact professionally with contractors, local officials, and the public while working long shifts in potentially adverse weather conditions.
  • Ensure that all eligible debris is picked up and that roadways and private driveways are cleared of debris before contractors proceed.
  • Execute daily responsibilities as directed by the supervisor and project manager, and provide regular briefings on activities, collection progress, and any issues encountered.
Required Qualifications:
  • A valid driver’s license and a reliable, insured vehicle available for full-day use.
  • A clean driving record meeting Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check requirements.
  • Availability to work 6 days a week, including weekends, approximately 12 hours a day.
  • Provision of valid I‑9 documentation for employment verification.
  • Proficiency using smartphones and knowledge of PC and Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn project-specific computer systems as needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
  • Good teamwork and cooperation skills, with the ability to work independently and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for interacting with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain and climb up and down.
  • Stand or walk outside in adverse weather conditions, including rain and extreme heat, and work on site with loud equipment for extended periods.
Employment Type:

This position is temporary and on an “as needed” basis. Employment is at will.
