Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Our client, a leading manufacturer in the metals and industrial processing industry, is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives at one of its largest union manufacturing facilities.
This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for driving a strong safety culture across a complex operation that includes high-temperature manufacturing processes, material handling, recycling operations, and heavy industrial equipment. The successful candidate will partner closely with plant leadership, hourly employees, and corporate resources to create an environment where safety is a core value and every employee takes ownership of safe work practices.

This position offers the chance to make a significant impact at a large manufacturing operation where safety leadership is a strategic priority. The Health & Safety Manager will work alongside an experienced leadership team, partner with corporate HSE resources, and play a key role in driving continuous improvement while supporting a collaborative union workforce.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all aspects of the site's health and safety programs while fostering a proactive, employee-driven safety culture.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, HR, and corporate leadership to improve overall safety performance.
- Conduct facility inspections, audits, risk assessments, and behavioral observations to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, perform root cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Develop, deliver, and continuously improve safety training programs to maintain compliance with federal, state, and company requirements.
- Maintain OSHA-required documentation, safety metrics, and regulatory reporting.
- Support workers' compensation, return-to-work efforts, and medical surveillance programs in partnership with Human Resources.
- Lead plant safety committees and promote employee engagement throughout the organization.
- Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA regulations and company safety standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a visible safety leader on the manufacturing floor, building trust and accountability across all levels of the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related technical discipline.
- Five or more years of progressive Health & Safety leadership experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and health and safety management systems.
- Experience leading safety programs in a union manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Proven ability to influence change and build positive working relationships with both hourly and salaried employees.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or similar programs.
- CSP, SMS, or other professional safety certification is a plus.
- Experience in metals, foundry, recycling, mining, chemical processing, steel, aluminum, or other high-hazard manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
