Registered Nurse (RN) - Float (ER, ICU, Med Surg, IMC, Women’s Services)

Job Type: Full Time Days

Schedule: 3x12, Days (7a-7p)

The Med/Surg unit provides direct patient care to critically ill adult patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. This position coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, and works as part of a team with ancillary and non-nursing departments.

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates with other disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Floats to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Manages ventilators, CPAP/BIPAP, and vaporthermics.
• Titrates and maintains critical drips on ICU patients, including knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects.
• Must pass a rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire or transfer.

• Current Kentucky or compact state RN license.
• Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (Bachelor's preferred).
• Certifications:
  
  Basic Life Support (BLS) required within one month of hire;
  Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within one year;
  Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within one year;
  Handle with Care required within 30 days of orientation.
