Installation Technician, Field/Service Technician, HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Field-based HVAC Installation Technician. Responsible for the installation, commissioning, diagnosis, repair, and start‑up of HVAC systems at customer sites.
Responsibilities- Plan, analyze, and complete assigned projects on time.
- Use hand tools, read construction drawings and specifications, and mount, hang, fit, and install equipment and systems.
- Perform site surveys, replacements, modifications, and start‑up as requested by customers.
- Prepare for installation by examining building layouts, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating with other trades.
- Maintain inventory, company equipment, and related documents; record parts, material, labor, and cost data.
- Provide training and follow‑up training to customers.
- Document work with daily time, progress, and duration paperwork; turn in reports on time.
- Provide technical support to customers on assigned projects.
- Serve as the direct customer contact, servicing products and equipment on site and ensuring satisfaction.
- Keep current on Trane products, especially direct digital control systems.
- Inspect and maintain company vehicles and equipment; record service manuals, schedules, repairs, and maintenance.
- Enforce safety standards and maintain security and accountability of company assets.
- Travel regularly; may require occasional overnight stays and overtime work.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; at least 2–5 years of commercial HVAC installation experience preferred.
- Technical school or formal training preferred.
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and handheld computer (smartphone, iPad).
- Valid driver’s license for minimum 12 months with clean driving record.
- State contractor licenses preferred (e.g., HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer).
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.
