Position: Plumbing Inspector I

Pay Grade: 13
Salary: $3,273.74 - $4,910.60 Monthly
Employment Type: Executive Branch – Full Time – Eligible for Overtime Pay – 18A – 37.5 HR/WK

The Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction enforces statewide standards for building construction. The Division of Plumbing is responsible for conducting plumbing inspections and permitting plumbing installations to ensure compliance with the state plumbing code and the regulations of the department.

• Inspect all plumbing installations and report violation findings.
• Perform preliminary reviews of local plans concerning plumbing and sanitation.
• Maintain files, reports, and permits.
• Issue permits electronically and process payments.
• Monitor licensee statuses and water heater device reporting.

• Proficient communication skills.
• Proficient technical knowledge of Kentucky State Plumbing Law, Regulations, and Code.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects.
• Conduct effective research.
• Demonstrated attention to detail.
• High level of customer service.

• Education: None
• Experience: Must have eight years experience as a journeyman or master plumber.
• Special Requirements: Must hold a valid journeyman or master plumber license in Kentucky at time of employment and maintain required licensure(s) and certification(s) for the length of employment.

Travel is required to perform inspections. Work is performed in all types of weather conditions.

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
