Job DescriptionAs a MOBILE EQUIPMENT METAL WORKER, WG-3809-9, you will disassemble damaged mobile equipment bodies and components to determine nature and extent of damage and required repairs. Perform repair work on damaged equipment components. Repair bodies by mending, replacing, or fabricating with sheet metals. Fabricate, assemble, and install components made of sheet metal for buses, trailers, shelters, and other equipment. Lay out and cut materials allowing for seams, joints, laps, and shrinkage.
Bend and form metal parts with hand, power tools, and equipment. Assemble and fasten fabricated parts by installing bolts, rivets, screws, soldering, and welding. Repair folds, wrinkles, creases, and large tears in fenders, doors, and roofs. Remove and replace damaged fenders, quarter panels, and top panels by cutting and welding with oxyacetylene and electric arc welding equipment. Remove and replace body trim, hardware, windshields, door glass, headliners, and other components.
Repair radiators, fuel tanks, and similar items by straightening, soldering, patching, tube rodding and splicing, plugging core sections, replacing cores and pressure testing for leaks. Perform electrical repair work such as removing, splicing, insulating, soldering, and replacing cut or defective wiring on mobile equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.
