The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II performs licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, and advanced diagnostics under the supervision of a Sr Mobile Diesel Technician or higher.

Monday through Friday, 2nd shift.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and air conditioning.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment using test instruments and handheld computers.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and verify proper operation.
  • Use sound judgment to identify problems and evaluate alternatives.
  • Maintain parts inventory on the company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Operate the company‑issued service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
  • Interact effectively with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues.
  • Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage daily schedule with independence.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, and lifts/jacks.
  • Document work on Repair Orders (RO) and upload pictures through the company’s iOS application.
  • Complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety, health, and environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related experience (alternative: any degree beyond HS or 5 years of experience).
  • Possess a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
  • Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or submit a valid DOT medical card with more than 4 months remaining).
  • At least 21 years old, valid driver's license, and ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
  • Ready certification within 18 months: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), T4 (Brakes), T5 (Suspension), T6 (Electrical & Electronic Systems), T7 (HVAC), and T608/609.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, walk for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
