Position SummaryThe Spanish Club Advisor is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and supervising all activities of the Spanish Club. This position promotes cultural awareness, language development, and global citizenship by engaging students in activities related to the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures. The Advisor works with students, parents, and staff to plan events, foster student participation, and ensure compliance with district policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Organize and supervise Spanish Club activities, events, and meetings.
- Hold a minimum of one meeting per month.
- Develop and submit an annual program calendar at the start of the year.
- Communicate schedules and updates to students, parents, and staff.
- Enter all meetings, events, and activities into the district’s facility use software (FMX).
- Coordinate club marketing and student recruitment.
- Promote cultural awareness through events, field trips, guest speakers, and community involvement.
- Support students in developing leadership skills by guiding planning and execution of activities.
- Maintain working knowledge of the club budget.
- Collect and deposit funds in accordance with Board of Education policy.
- Monitor and manage expenditures in compliance with district procedures.
- Supervise students individually and in groups during meetings, events, and school-supported activities.
- Oversee parents and volunteers assisting with club programs.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents accurately.
- Strong communication skills in both English and Spanish preferred.
- Effective engagement with students, parents, and community members.
- Math skills: accurate calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios.
- Reasoning ability: sound judgment and problem‑solving in planning and overseeing activities.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Understanding of district policies, Board of Education requirements, and student activity guidelines.
- Walk, stand, sit, talk, and listen frequently.
- Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- May lift or move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision.
- Noise levels vary from quiet to loud depending on activities.
- Work performed in classrooms, meeting areas, and event venues.
Compensation is in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Richmond Community Schools and MEA‑Local 1/Richmond Education Association (REA).
