The Richmond R-XVI School District is an accredited 3A school district and has earned the Distinction in Performance recognition for the past four out of five years (2008, 2009, 2011 & 2012). The district utilizes the Professional Learning Communities model for professional development.

Richmond is located approximately 45 miles northeast of Downtown Kansas City, MO with just under 6,000 residents and a PreK-12 population of approximately 1600.
