Join Tradestaff and work on a variety of residential, commercial and civil construction projects.

Tradestaff is looking for experienced Carpenters to join our team. We have ongoing opportunities with reputable clients across the Tasman region, with work ranging from residential new builds and renovations through to commercial developments and civil infrastructure projects.

Tasman will be the predominant region of work for this role. However, you may also be required to work in the Southland, Otago, Canterbury, West Coast, Marlborough and Nelson regions. This will be discussed further with the successful applicant.

What you'll be doing

You'll be working on a variety of residential, commercial and civil construction projects.

Depending on the assignment, your duties may include:

  • Reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications and drawings.
  • Measuring, marking, cutting and assembling timber, steel and other building materials.
  • Constructing, installing, altering and repairing building frameworks, walls, floors, roofs and other structures.
  • Completing first fix, second fix and finishing carpentry.
  • Installing doors, windows, cabinetry, cladding, flooring and interior fit-out components.
  • Constructing concrete formwork and boxing where required.
  • Safely operating hand and power tools.
  • Working collaboratively with supervisors and other trades while following all health and safety requirements.

What we're looking for

Applicants must have either:

  • A minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience; or
  • A relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification (or an overseas qualification recognised as comparable by NZQA).
You will also have:
  • Own hand and power tools.
  • Reliable transport.
  • Two recent work references.
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • The ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
What you'll get
  • $28.00–$38.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
  • Guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week.
  • Ongoing full-time work on a variety of residential, commercial and civil construction projects.
  • PPE provided where required.
  • Support from a dedicated Tradestaff consultant throughout your assignment.
