General Job Description
Exciting Opportunity to Launch Your Career in Electrical Estimating! IES Residential is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Electrical Estimator to join our team in Richmond, Texas. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career to gain hands‑on experience, learn from experienced estimators, and grow within a well‑established company.
Responsibilities- Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for electrical projects, including multi‑family developments.
- Review blueprints, specifications, and project documents to understand scope.
- Support senior estimators with data gathering and project analysis.
- Request and track pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Help prepare bid packages, proposals, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain organized records of estimates and project files.
- Learn to analyze historical data and market trends.
- Collaborate with project managers and team members to ensure project alignment.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and installation methods (education or field experience).
- Strong math, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Willingness to learn and grow in the estimating field.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Degree or coursework in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is a plus.
- Internship, trade school, or electrical field experience is a plus.
- Multi‑family construction experience is a plus, but not required.
Full‑time, in‑office role in Richmond, TX. Collaborative team environment with daily interaction across departments. Fast‑paced setting with multiple deadlines and priorities. Primarily desk‑based work using computers and standard office equipment.
Physical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting and working on a computer. Ability to occasionally stand, walk, and move around the office. Ability to lift up to 15‑20 pounds as needed. Visual ability to review detailed drawings and documents.
