School Lunch Clerk – SST Sugar Land CP
Location: Sugarland College Prep, Richmond, TX, US
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $16.50 – $24.99 per hour
Reports to: Operations Manager
Work Hours: Normal work hours (205 days)
Job Summary: To effectively operate the Child Nutrition program at the campus, including compliance with all state and federal regulations and adherence with SST policies and procedures.
Qualifications- Current Food Manager Certification as accepted by the Texas Department of State Health Services, preferred or obtained in the first two weeks of employment.
- A minimum of 1-year of school food service experience, preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
- Ability to organize special programs for assigned campus and participate in appropriate campus activities to educate and/or encourage student and parent involvement.
- Ability to use a computer, including Child Nutrition software, district database, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine, and telephone.
- Ability to analyze data, focus on details and process accurate information.
- Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem‑solving skills.
- Process student eligibility applications and complete verification in accordance with USDA regulations.
- Monitor student lunch accounts and notify households of negative balances through phone calls, letters, and emails.
- Review meal service production records daily, reporting any discrepancies to the District and/or Central Office.
- Operate point of service during breakfast, lunch, and snack meal periods, ensuring that each student has selected a reimbursable meal.
- Maintain the appropriate documentation for students requesting special dietary accommodations, in accordance with USDA protocol.
- Operate the after school snack program, distributing reimbursable snacks and maintaining the appropriate documentation (if offered).
- Operate the a la carte program, ordering products, maintaining inventory, and managing all appropriate documentation (if offered).
- Participate in the Local School Wellness Policy, including collecting and maintaining documentation, assessing completion of policy goals, publicizing updates, and other related activities as outlined in the District Wellness Policy.
- Record meal counts and revenue daily, reporting discrepancies to the Regional and/or Central Office.
- Understand and execute all department/district policies and procedures.
- Operate the Child Nutrition Program in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws.
- Attend SST trainings and TDA Education Service Center Child Nutrition trainings, as required.
- Maintain Child Nutrition files.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Light work: may require occasional light lifting.
- Position is in an office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
